Search at sea.

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

Shoalhaven Marine Rescue’s Category 3 rescue vessel SA-24 was despatched to sea to assist in a search for two fisherman who were overdue from a fishing trip which started at Kiama the previous morning. SA-24 was tasked by Police from Marine Area Command to an area off Ulladulla, along with vessels from Jervis Bay, Sussex Inlet and Ulladulla Coastal Patrol and search aircraft. The overdue vessel was located by a trawler 7nm east of Burrill Lake in the search area identified by Police, with the two occupants clinging to the upturned hull. Their vessel, a 4.5 metre Webster twin hull had drifted south in the offshore current. The men were taken to shore and then conveyed by helicopter to Wollongong Hospital for treatment.
