VMR Point Danger Launches new vessel.

On Saturday 14 July 2007 VRA Marine Squad Point Danger christened their new category three rescue vessel “Twin Towns” at the Old Tick Gate Grounds at Tweed Heads South.
A large crowd was in attendance as was The Qld Emergency Services Minister, Neil Roberts, NSW Emergency Services Minister Nathan Rees, The Hon Justine Elliott, MP for Richmond, Mr Geoff Provest, MP for Tweed, Ms Jan Stuckey, MP for Currumbin, and Mr Max Boyd, Administrator for Tweed Council. The vessel, costing in excess of $400,000.00 was funded by grants from the NSW & Qld State Governments, donations from Twin Towns Club Services Club and through fund raising by the members of VMR Point Danger.

The vessel is a Naiad 11.3 metre rigid hulled inflatable boat built by Woody Marine of Brisbane and powered by twin 300hp Suzuki four stroke outboard engines. VMR Point Danger is one of 13 N.S.W. Volunteer Rescue Association Marine Squads. Other V.R.A. Marine Squads include Shoalhaven Marine Rescue, Wooli, Tweed Coast, Nambucca, Brunswick Heads, Woolgoolga, Port Macquarie, Camden Haven, Hawkesbury, Norah Head, Tuross & Narooma.
