Membership Benefits
Our Mission is to assist people who are stranded from a boating calamity, whether it be a simpler motor failure or an incident more dramatic, the sight of a rescue craft coming to their aid
suddenly gives a very great feeling of gratitude. To SMRA members it gives a feeling of giving something of themselves back to the community, be it just relieving the anxiety of being stranded or to the occasion of saving a life.
Our core business is to provide marine Search and Rescue (SAR) services for the northern part of the Shoalhaven and fifteen nautical miles to sea, from Jervis Bay in the South to Kiama in the north. As recreational boating has expanded, the SMRA has responded to the needs with the provision of boating safety patrols, radio monitoring, and emergency search and rescue services. All these services are carried out with the latest equipment and technology on our rescue craft, be it the global position equipment for accurate navigation or base radar.
PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF THE 1 JULY 2008 MEMBERSHIP FEES WILL RISE TO $50.00 PER ANNUM ($40.00 FOR OLD AGE PENSIONERS).
